I went to sleep at 10:30pm last night, which was good for me. I get up at 5:45am for work, so getting about 6.5-7 hours is good for me. My normal bed time is 12-1am and it is not working for me anymore. I crash during the week and try to oversleep on the weekends to make up for lost time. Not very smart.

Physically, my neck/rear left shoulder area feels strained a bit. I remember tweaking it a little when I was lifting on Sunday, but today is the first day I feel some pain. I am not sure if this pain is arthritis or a stress fracture, but I am a little bit concerned. Otherwise, things are going well, down about 80 lbs. so far. I go for my foot MRI on Thursday, so wish me luck.

My foot is sore. Very sore. I broke my left foot a few years ago playing basketball. Driving down the lane, I tried to do my best Michael Jordan impression and I stepped on the foot of a slower defender. Crack. Man down. On a side note, I DO NOT recommend wearing the classic Vin Baker inspired Team Jordan Vindicate shoes pictured below. Maybe being named after an alcoholic ex-NBA star makes the shoes cursed, I don’t know. One thing I do know is that the two serious injuries I’ve had playing basketball- broken foot and torn calf- both occurred wearing this model shoe.

The fifth metatarsal break is the most serious of the metatarsal fractures. The area has poor blood circulation and does not heal very well. This fracture is very common in boot camp recruits since most are doing an amazing level of physical activity which they were probably not used to before. As you would expect, the foot gets pounded constantly by all this new activity and it tends to react very poorly. My fracture was more of a freak occurrence since it happened after my first 12 week program for Body For Life. I was in decent shape and I was still a victim. Please be careful.

(1/17/2008) Update

Sorry for the lack of an update blog to this, but I just started this blog so I need to retrace over old news. My foot MRI cames back negative, no damage at all. Miraculously, my foot started to feel better within a day or two.
